Winning an AI Hackathon!

Hi, I’m Sam, a Senior Product Designer and Webflow expert. In this newsletter I explore living and working online. Thanks for being here, you can opt out anytime.

Last week I took part in the Waitrose Digital AI Hackathon.

And our team won! 🏆️

Alongside nearly 100 designers, engineers and product managers we were split into 7 teams and competed to design and build the most innovative AI solutions for online grocery shopping, in just 2 days.

Our team designed and built a meal planner solution that leveraged large language model interactions against a customer’s shopping history to output intelligent meal planning and recipe suggestions.

Unfortunately I can’t share any of our designs but it was pretty cool to win the event and hopefully we get to work with AI in our products for real soon 🤞

Some of our team (I’m not pictured) collecting the award 🥇

In this week’s newsletter I’m sharing some tools and resources I’ve found useful recently.

Enjoy 🫡

Simple forms

I’m really into products that are super simple and minimal at the moment. Tally is both of these things, plus it has a brilliant fair usage policy. I’m moving away from Typeform and Google Forms to use Tally for the foreseeable.

New book day

Just finished reading Co-Intelligence (which is a solid intro to AI; I recommend it) and started reading Entrepreneur Revolution by Dan Priestly. I’m a big sucker for the entrepreneurial/small business book categories and I’ve read most of them but this one definitely stands out. And if you cba to read the book, give Dan a listen on Ali Abdaal’s Deep Dive podcast instead.

SVG Shapes

I’ve been finding these SVG shapes useful on a number of projects recently. Particularly as placeholder logos on some Webflow templates I’ve been building.
