What should you do after launching your website?

If you’re starting a business and have just launched a new website, do you know what to do next?

In my experience, most new small business owners invest a disproportionate amount of money into two things:

  • A logo ✏️

  • A website 💻️

And fail to allocate enough budget to the thing that will actually make the biggest difference:

  • Marketing 🚀

I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately. Not because I want new business owners to stop hiring me for website design. But because I want the website I deliver to be deployed effectively as a tool for attracting new customers to your business.

So, if you’ve recently launched a new website for your business, remember you’ve just made it to the start line, not the finish.

Some things to start obsessing over:

  • SEO

  • Content creation

  • Social media marketing

  • Link building

  • Google advertising

  • Writing a newsletter

Take this as your cue to focus on marketing your business and maximising the value you paid for your new website.

Have a good week all 🫡. As usual, I’ve dropped some tools I’ve been finding useful below.

Striking design resources

Ena is the latest mock-up library to catch my attention. I especially like their motion effect templates for After Effects.

Write custom code in Webflow

Writing custom javascript in Webflow has always been a pain. There are a few workarounds out there but none of them are as good as Slater. I’ve spent a lot of time here this week on client and personal projects.

Improve the SEO of your blog posts in Webflow

Including a table of contents in your longer blog posts is a great way to improve the experience for your readers and your search engine ranking. This isn’t something you can do ‘out of the box’ in Webflow, but this tutorial by Flowrite explains how you can do it with some custom tweaks.
